Care & Spring Replacement
Everything you need to keep your Nübrace PowerBoost™ performing at its best, from swapping your springs to everyday care.
Choosing your spring resistance
No two knees are the same. Each person has their own medical condition, pain level, and movement limitations. Your Nübrace comes with two spring sets, so you can match the support to how your knee feels best day to day.
- Red springs — medium support. A balanced level for everyday walking, standing, stairs, and lighter activity. Most people start here.
- Yellow springs — light, gentle assistance and support. Our softest set, designed for maximum comfort and natural motion. Ideal for sensitive knees, lighter support needs, or later stages of recovery.
Looking for maximum support? Blue springs offer our firmest resistance, usually more relevant for people weighing 220 lbs and up or for extreme conditions (aggressive sports, heavy weight carrying). Another use is for limiting movement, when the knee needs restricted motion, as in some specific post-surgery or early-recovery situations. They're available separately in our accessories collection.
Tip: You can run two different springs on one brace (for example, one red and one yellow) to fine-tune your support.
Cleaning and care
- Wipe the brace down with a damp cloth to remove dirt and sweat.
- For a deeper clean, detach the metal parts and machine-wash them on a gentle cycle.
- Air-dry all components fully before reassembling.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives on the metal parts, and keep them out of direct sunlight while drying.
Before you replace: a few important notes
- Each spring is secured at three points: top, center, and bottom.
- The springs are held tightly, so you may need to use some force. Ask someone to assist if needed.
- Before removing a spring, note the position of the strap holders on the spring tips. It's worth taking a quick photo.
- Always reattach the straps in the exact same position when installing the new springs.
How to replace your springs
Swapping your springs takes under a minute once you've done it once.
- Place the brace on a flat surface and hold the top and bottom plastic holders.
- Gently pull to release the spring.
- Slide the spring out of the middle holder and pull it free from the bottom hole.
- Slide the straps off the spring, and remember their position for reinstallation.
- Take the new spring and first make sure the two tips are tightly screwed into the spring spiral. Now slide the straps back on in the same position.
- Insert the spring into the bottom holder, then the upper holder.
- Click it securely into the middle holder.
That's it, your brace is ready to power up your movement again.
Everyday maintenance tips
A few small habits keep your Nübrace fitting well and working as it should. Position the brace so your kneecap stays centered and uncovered, and check that the support loops are facing upwards for a proper fit. If you're wearing it over clothing, stretch your pants down tightly first so the brace doesn't slip. Should your springs ever feel too stiff or too soft, switch to a different set, and if you're not sure which, just reach out and we'll help. And every so often, make sure the spring coil is securely screwed in place to keep it performing at its best.
